This DIY Lavender Linen Spray is the perfect thing for promoting relaxation just before bed. This spray requires only three ingredients and about 10 minutes to make.
To say I love lavender is an understatement. It’s one of my absolute favourite scents, and I use it in just about all my DIY products.
I recently went to visit a lavender farm near where I live, and was in heaven walking through the fields of lavender growing there, rubbing some of the flowers between my hands to aquire their beautiful frangrance from the essential oils on the buds.
About a month ago, I was asked to make a linen spray by my nan, who loves lavender just as much as I do. A linen spray that uses natural botanicals, such as lavender, can help the body to unwind and relax just before bed. The soothing scent of lavender has been found to help calm the nervous system and physically relax the body, helping to ease symptoms of anxiety and stress, and, in turn, promote better sleep.
Rather than paying the steep price for a bottle of linen spray from the store, this product is really simple to make at home, and only requires three ingredients.

DIY Lavender Linen Spray
This linen spray can be used on bedding, pillows, towels, and may even be sprayed in closets or drawers to help freshen fabrics and promote a relaxing atmosphere throughout the home.
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup (150 ml) distilled water or lavender hydrosol
- 3 tbsp (50 ml) organic high proof (190 proof) grain alcohol
- 40 drops lavender essential oil
- 8 ounce fine mist glass spray bottle
To Make:
- Add the high proof grain alcohol and the lavender essential oil to an 8 ounce glass spray bottle.
- Gently swish the solution to combine the ingredients, then let the mixture sit for 5–10 minutes.
- The alcohol helps to keep the essential oil dissolved in the solution with the water, and preserves the scent. (But I always shake the bottle before using it anyway.)
- Next, fill the bottle with the distilled water, then replace the spray nozzle back onto the bottle and shake the solution well to combine.
- This linen spray can be used on bedding to help freshen it up or applied onto pillows just before bed to help with sleep.
- This linen spray should be kept in an airtight container, away from light, humidity, and heat to help preserve the fragrance and to prevent mould growth.
